Hi, I'm Derek Dunlap Jr
And I fell in love with coding a few years ago. There have been a lot of ups and downs throughout my growing process of feeling as though I belonged within this career field. Stemming all the way back to my first and only semester at West Virginia University, to enrolling in my first every Java Course at San Diego Miramar College, a couple years later taking my first C++ course at Moorpark College, until now! Despite my short comings and my bright spots throughout my jounery, I have remained cool headed on this rollercoaster ride. Constantly, looking for ways to improve and to showcase my talents while looking for ways to challenges myself to improve. And some advice that I can give to those looking to venture on this path: listen, have patience, and tackle problems with small steps.

United States Marine Corps / 2012 - 2017
During my 5 year serve in the United States Marine Corps, I held the primary occupation as an Avionics Technician and a secondary occupation as a Quality Assurance Representative for Rotary Wing Aircrafts. I helped my department by conducting rapid repair of computer-based electronics installed on aircrafts while ensuring that all components within specified tolerances according to the Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP) and additional corresponding technical manuals. As a Quality Assurance Representative, I successfully performed all of my tasks with zero safety related incidents and 100% passing rate during all Quality Assurance inspections.

GitFit
DigitalCrafts / Individual Project
Individual project that was developed to function as a 100% free fitness related website. GitFit allows its visitors to have full access to everything the site has to offer. This means creating an account where they can save any workout to their workout plan, manage those workouts, take advantage of the site's built-in Stopwatch feature and be able to check-off exercises during a session. However, all of these great features do not require an account to be able to interact with. Just click the "Guest Login" to have the same freedom's of a real account.
